Metal Gear Solid V: Ranking The Missions From Worst To Best

5. Voices (Episode 20)

Overview: Rescue Shabani, the leader of the boys who were forced to work at the mine. He was taken to Ngumba Industrial Zone, the place the locals call "the Devil's House." Voices is without question the creepiest main mission in The Phantom Pain, which after sneaking around a long cliff top, will see the player end up in the Devil's House, a blood-strewn facility in which grotesque experiments are being performed on the locals. It gives off a vibe awfully similar to the hallway prior to the Cyborg Ninja's first arrival in the original MGS, and after you reach your target, a cut-scene will trigger, with the Man on Fire appearing before you, kick-starting a boss battle. The Man on Fire will chase you around the mission area as you have to figure out a way to bring him down, considering that conventional firearms don't work. Though at first frustrating, it becomes clear that water is the solution, and there are several ways to do it: use C4 to blow him into the swimming pool, detonate the water towers to soak him, shoot him with the water pistol 50 times, or drive a jeep at him, steer it off the edge of the cliff and dive out at the last minute. Then you can call in Pequod or just drive a jeep out of the mission area. It's one of the game's most stressful and intense missions but it's also extremely entertaining. Sadly, though, it'll be the last time the Man on Fire appears as a direct encounter in the core story (though there is a side op where you see him once again).
