Metal Gear Survive: 10 Brutally Honest Early Impressions You Need To Know

1. It Has No Soul

Away from the flashiness of the FOX Engine, the never-ending screens of resources and explosive headshots, there's no hiding just how soulless Metal Gear Survive actually is.

Although the beta gave players a taste of how by-committee the spin-off is, the final result is said to be even more insulting. Seemingly designed specifically to be as soulless as possible, the lack of personality in the visuals, characters, and fundamental gameplay mechanics is said to kill the spin-off before it even has a chance to get going.

Throw on top of that the always-online DRM, the microtransactions (that could end up costing as much as $50!) and its uncomfortable connection to previous entries in the series, and it's easy to see Konami's latest as nothing more than a soulless money-making machine cashing in on the MSG name.

Hell, it didn't take two minutes for the spin-off to prove just how terrible its restrictive business practices actually are, as the DRM rendered the game unplayable for a time at launch for PS4 owners. The dodgy publisher-mandated decisions everyone hated so much literally broke the game. On launch day.
