Metroid: Samus Returns may be a remake of Metroid II but that didn't stop the creators inserting a few extra bosses for good measure. This was a great idea since one new addition, Diggeraut, is among the most creative Metroid enemies.

After you accidentally release this mining drone, he will lumber away in the background. After you've totally forgotten about Diggernaut, this droid will suddenly appear much later in the game and begin chasing you, attempting to crush you with his drilling arm.

After numerous chases, the killer digger will face you in combat. Staying in the background, Diggernaut will swing his drill arms forward, trying to smash you to pieces. Despite telegraphing his attacks, the robot's swift and unpredictable movements makes it difficult to avoid him.

Annoyingly, you can only hit him when his red eye comes to the forefront. During this time, he'll spew lasers across the room, meaning you have to constantly be on the move while trying to defeat the deranged Diggernaut.
