Metroid Movie Wishlist: 6 Things That Must Happen

3. Make Ridley A Complex Character

Speaking of alien creatures, the ultimate big bad of the series, Ridley, needs to be done right in the film. Unlike the creatures mentioned in the previous section, he's sentient, although he has the appearance of a fearsome dragon-like monster. So getting him right will be tricky. He needs to look fearsome whilst also being depicted as being intelligent and conniving enough to truly be believable as the main villain. The most obvious way to do this would be to have him voiced by an actor with chops to pull it off. Now let's think, who would provide a decent voice for Ridley? Benedict Cumberbatch using his Smaug voice comes to mind as an obvious example, whilst, oddly enough, Tom Hardy's Bane voice also comes to mind when pondering how an evil space dragon would sound. By the way, he's named after Ridley Scott, as Alien was a major influence on Metroid, so having Scott provide Ridley's voice would be the ultimate Hollywood in-joke.
