Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor - 8 Reasons To Be Excited
8. Plan A Date With Your Favourite Orc
The nemesis system is a bit like Match.com you can browse dozen of profiles until you find just the right one. You know, the one that you want to drop in on unexpectedly, kill all his goons and then throw him into a bonfire. Thats pretty much a typical date in Mordor. Seriously though, the nemesis system is what is going to set this game apart from its competitors and will inevitably lead to sequels. As long as it is implemented in the same manner as the developers describe, it should enable the player to slowly pick apart the orc leadership until they have been manipulated into being under the personal control of the gamer. Think of it this way its Assassins Creed, but instead of slowly going through and taking out the six people on your list as the game dictates, you get to infiltrate the enemy ranks by any means you like. As orcs are eliminated, others will step up in position to take their place and it doesnt require effort by the player. For example, if two orcs dislike each other already then there is a fair chance that off screen theyll get into a fight and one will kill the other, resulting in constant movement amongst the hierarchy and the need for the player to adapt their plans for orc domination on the fly.
