Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor - 8 Reasons To Be Excited

7. Extreme Levels Of Gore

Games can be bloody affairs, and if you shy away from the gore when you produce a violent video game, the internet will probably pull you to pieces. If you€™re waving a sword around and there€™s no effect at all then it looks comparatively tame, not forgetting that most of the players will be used to at least the level seen in an average episode of Game of Thrones (never mind the Red Wedding or some of the more recent installments). Thankfully, and as the screen above shows, Shadow of Mordor hasn€™t shied away from this. In other gameplay footage you have that decapitation, plus one orc punching another one to death as blood and gore is sprayed around in a very Mountain/Oberyn fashion. There is certainly no way that this game is getting a PG rating. There will be burn effects, trolls squishing much smaller beings and all manner of stabbings to be seen €“ and Shadows seems quite happy to portray as much of the violence as possible in ultra-cinematic slow-motion. So for those diehard fans of fantasy that expect extreme levels of carnage, this will be an utter feast for the eyes.
