10. Better Finishers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjxODO73mCs Mortal Kombat has always been known for its blood-soaked combat and goriness. While MK9 was not shy about bloodshed or stomach-turning violence, there were some fans who felt that the fatalities could have been more creative instead of relying heavily on limb-ripping or decapitation. Some fans - believe it or not - complained that most of the fatalities killed victims too quickly rather than making them suffer before they took their final breath. Others pointed out that with a roster full of unique fighters with special abilities, a lot of potential for unique and memorable fatalities was wasted. Other members of the Mortal Kombat fanbase also noticed that while MK9 showcased revamped "classic" fatalities, such as Johnny Cage's "torso rip" and Liu Kang's metamorphosis into a dragon, other retro fan-favourites had been neglected such as Sonya Blade and Princess Kitana's separate versions of their "kiss of death". While many believe "gore is the name of the game" when it comes to Mortal Kombat, fans have expressed that they appreciate creativity above all. It's not enough just to kill an opponent brutally, it must be memorable and warrant wanting to actually memorise the elaborate button combos to enact the move in the first place.
