Since the release of 2011’s Mortal Kombat, the franchise has been no stranger to guest characters. That game and Mortal Kombat X primarily featured representatives from famous horror franchises, such as Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

With the release of 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11, there have been two types of guest characters. The first is comic characters like Spawn and the Joker. The second is classic Action movie characters. The T-800 Terminator from the Terminator franchise was released as part of the ‘Kombat Pack 1’, using the likeness of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. RoboCop from the classic science fiction action franchise was later released as part of the ‘Aftermath’ DLC pack.

Recently with the announcement of ‘Kombat Pack 2’ it was revealed that John Rambo from the Rambo franchise would be added to the game with Sylvester Stallone lending both his likeness and voice to the character.

There is currently no word about future DLC for Mortal Kombat 11, but the trend of using these characters would certainly continue to boost the games popularity. With that said, these action heroes should be the next guest characters in Mortal Kombat 11.

10. John Matrix

Colonel John Matrix is the protagonist of the 1985 movie Commando. Played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Matrix is a retired Delta Force soldier who has to rescue his daughter from a group of mercenaries. John Matrix is essentially a one-man army style character, similar to characters like John Rambo from the Rambo franchise.

Schwarzenegger played a variety of iconic action roles, especially during the 1980’s and 1990’s. He is probably most famous for portraying the titular Terminator in the Terminator franchise. With the T-800 Terminator already featuring among the Mortal Kombat 11 roster, John Matrix is the next best pick. Other Schwarzenegger characters such as Conan from Conan the Barbarian and Dutch from Predator could also easily take this spot.

John Matrix would certainly have the most unique gameplay compared to Conan or Dutch, however. Dutch is very similar to Rambo, using both military tactics and a variety of traps to take down his foe. Conan is rather similar to Mortal Kombat’s own Shao Kahn, being a large man wielding a giant sword - similar to Shao Kahn’s Hammer.

Matrix, on the other hand, is much more of a traditional military man, using a variety of over the top guns to take down enemies, giving him a playstyle similar to that of Mortal Kombat’s ‘Special Forces’ characters.
