Mortal Kombat 11: 10 Reasons It's NetherRealm's Best Game Ever
2. The Largest And Most Outrageous Story
MK is at its best when it is playing up to the craziness of the story. While there are brief moments of this in the MKX story, it mostly takes itself a little too seriously for its own good. MK11 is the opposite. It's a game that isn't afraid to embrace the goofiness of its premise. The color palette is no longer dark and drab, MK11 is filled to the brim with color and carnage.
All that being said, MK11 retains what made the previous NetherRealm story modes interesting. The well choreographed cutscene fight scenes, the excellent, and the fantastic voice acting is all back, but this time its infused with a sense of fun.
This is done with a ridiculous time travel plot that allows older versions of characters to interact with their younger selves. It's as bonkers as it sounds, and the awkward, hilarious moments when characters have to convince others that they're on their team by beating the crap out of each other are back in all their glory.
And while they normally seem out of place, in the goofy, irreverent story of MK11, they more than work.
