Mortal Kombat 11: 8 New Gameplay Features You Need To Know
1. Time Travel Shenanigans
As it did with MK 9's timeline reset, NetherRealm's putting to good use the get out of jail free card that is time travel to make sure no beloved character gets left behind and in MK 11, it's going to be an integral part of the narrative to boot.
Besides hinting at the reversal of several key plot points - Shinnok's defeat, Liu Kang's death, etc. - during the course of MK 11's runtime, fresh-faced newcomers Geras and Kronika both have the ability to manipulate time to their will in battle. No gameplay for the latter has been shown as yet, but Geras is able to phase in and out of existence to avoid attacks, as well as freeze opponents on the spot by preventing the flow of time around them.
Will those abilities extend to the rest of MK 11's cast? Unlikely, but it gives NetherRealm free reign to pick and choose any character, location or past event to reintroduce whenever it sees fit. Rain, Sektor, Cyrax, Sindel: all MK icons that have since met their doom and been relegated to cameo status can finally reunite with the rest to make one big, fist-throwing family.
