5. Kitana

Status: Verbally mentioned in a story scene.

Blink and you'll miss her, we know Kitana is in MK 11 thanks to Cassie Cage's one line in the story trailer, while she gets ready to fight:

"Kitana, Empress of the dead"

Cassie's scene looks like one of the many pre-fight introductions that get customised depending on who you're up against, and therefore we can assume that this isn't a narrative cutscene, but something dropped in from regular gameplay.

As for Kitana herself, she was last seen still under the controlling magic of Shinnok in MK X, trapped in Outworld alongside a corrupted Liu Kang.

All of that could easily be discarded by Raiden's slaughtering of Shinnok eventually freeing the daughter of Shang Tsung, as could plucking an earlier version of her from a different point in the timeline.
