Mortal Kombat: EVERY Game Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Mortal Kombat 4

Mortal Kombat 11
Midway Games

With Mortal Kombat 4 being the first entry in the series with 3D graphics and voice-acting, gamers were seriously pumped. What could go wrong?

The answer is a lot. Not only were most of the new characters uninteresting, Shinnok and Jarek were carbon copies of Shang Tsung and Kano respectively. (And let's be honest, you forgot about Kai until now, didn't you?) It's cool to see the Fatalities in 3D for the first time but most of them are recycled from previous games.

And the voice-acting...ohhhhhh the voice-acting. I know people give Ronda Rousey a hard time for her portrayal as Sonya in MK11 but the acting in MK4 makes her look like Daniel-Day Lewis.

The most significant thing to come out of Mortal Kombat was the character of Quan Chi. (He actually debuted in Mortal Kombat Mythologies but let's pretend that never happen.) Since his backstory is directly tied to Scorpion, he helped develop the origin of Mortal Kombat's most popular character (as well the series' mythos in general). It's just a shame the rest of the game didn't focus as much on character development.
