Mortal Kombat X: 10 Most Underpowered Characters That Need Upgrading

1. Kotal Kahn (Sun God)

You're not worthy of holding the 'Kahn' title, Kotal - your predecessor would be turning in his grave if he could see the pathetic excuse for an Outworld ruler that succeeded him. Pretty much everyone hated Shao Kahn for being an overpowered scumbag that laughed in your face while he wasn't beating on it, but that was okay, he was supposed to be powerful - to an extent - due to the very nature of his position. In contrast, Kotal's Sun God variant is arguably the weakest in the entirety of Mortal Kombat X. Revolving around two uniquely linked attacks - Sun God Choke and Sun Scorch - the two are intended to be used in equal measure as one buffs the damage of the other and vice versa. The problem, however, lies in the fact that Sun Scorch can't be used at all until Kotal pulls off a successful Choke attack, so if you're coming up against an opponent with a strong zoning game, you're never going to get close enough for that all-important grapple. So that's you gimped before the match even begins; death usually follows soon afterwards. Making Sun Scorch available from the get-go won't fix all of Kotal Kahn's problems, but it's a start, at least.
