NBA 2K16: 6 Things Spike Lee's Involvement Tells Us
4. There May Be Less Replayability
It's hard to shake the feeling that Lee's entire narrative will be geared at mapping out the rookie season of MyCareer's created character, only for the game mode to revert to its basic form once the summer break is over. 2K have long had a problem with extending MyCareer mode beyond that initial campaign; teammates still refer to your character as "rookie", cutscenes become repetitive and tedious, and any notion of the player improving in the eyes of his teammates is slapped down immediately. Should Spike's input be entirely concentrated on the rookie season, 2K16's MyCareer mode will only have improved superficially. The game mode's real issues require greater patience and effort - qualities Lee can hopefully also bring to the table.
