3. Foot-Planting Technology
A seemingly minor change, but one which could have the biggest impact on the way the game looks and feels, is the new use of 'foot-planting technology'. This will result in greater "visual authenticity", allowing the players to move around the court in a far more realistic manner, shifting their weight, turning in a far more convincing manner, and even occasionally stumbling should the situation call for it. This new development should also improve the feel of the game, allowing players to manoeuvre around the court in a true-to-life way. Players may not be as robotically smooth as in previous games, but this is surely an improvement in terms of realism. Gliding over the court may be easier, but mistakes, missteps, and sudden shifts of balance are all part of what makes basketball an exciting and unique sport.
