A huge new feature of the game's franchise modes is an emphasis upon 'Team Building'. This overhaul aims to create more thorough, logical behaviour for each CPU-controlled team in the league, making you feel as though you're part of a living, breathing NBA. A basic example is the screen above, which gives a summary of each team's basic long-term plans, trade behaviour, wanted and available players, and impending free agent contracts. On a deeper level, 'Team Building' will hopefully allow your game to progress in a realistic, exciting way as the years go on. No more unrealistic trades cropping up out of nowhere; don't expect to see the New Orleans Pelicans blow their cap space on Dwight Howard and DeMarcus Cousins, shoving franchise-player Anthony Davis onto the bench. Teams will now be far more aware of their own roster's strengths and needs, and will react accordingly with regards to trades, free agency, and the NBA Draft.
