This clearly isn't a quick-fix problem, otherwise it would have been done long ago. As with many games, 2K's online servers aren't really up to scratch. Many, many fans complain of lag during MyTeam or Park Mode games - it ranks up there as one of the most frustrating problems it's possible to encounter when gaming online. Although most (if not all) video games revolve around timing, this is especially detrimental to a basketball sim. Try shooting a perfect-release jump shot with the game world buffering around you, and you'll quickly understand.
