NBA 2K17 Hands-On Review: 10 Things You Need To Know
7. MyCareer Is Back On Track...
Ah, MyCareer mode. MyCareer has so often been the crown jewel of NBA 2K, but proved to be its sole downfall last time around. Spike Lee did his damnedest to steal the spotlight with an incredibly rigid, restrictive storyline, and his gritty, serious tone seemed incredibly out of place in a sports game.
This year's instalment looks to be a huge return to form. It retains the story-driven aspect of last year, but more control seems to have been returned to the player. There's more of an emphasis on practice and weight training, giving a real sense of accomplishment and growth as your in-game avatar slowly improves. This may sound a little tedious, but I personally find it preferable to last year's rushed rookie season - in which the actual sport of basketball often seemed an afterthought.
It's certainly a step in the right direction, but MyCareer isn't quite perfect yet...
