NBA 2K17 Hands-On Review: 10 Things You Need To Know
6. ...But Not Entirely
Not all aspects of the Spike Lee horrorshow have been dropped. We still have the rigidly-enforced clumsy nickname (last year's 'Freq' gives way to 'Prez'), although this time it's clearly a nickname. The announcers at least have the courtesy to refer to you by your real surname, as long as it exists in the game's database.
Another worrying addition to MyCareer mode - although one which could turn out well - is the 'Dynamic Duo' aspect. Justice Young, played by Michael B. Jordan, is your player's peer and teammate. You'll find yourself drafted to the same NBA team no matter what.
Justice's involvement threatens to overshadow the mode slightly (the Orange Juice meter, for example, is a feature exclusively devoted to the on-court chemistry between the pair of you), but still represents a marked improvement from last year's overly-cinematic outing.
