NBA 2K19 The Prelude: 5 Ups & 3 Downs
4. Gives You The Jump On MyCareer
Even though it can only be played through the once, The Prelude is a nice lead-in to MyCareer's 'The Way Back' story. Come 2K19's full release, saved data will be carried over too, meaning there's no need to go back through those introductory sequences and punch in the same old information.
The game will remember your player's name, look, playing style and other vitals. That's great, because it means there won't be any tiresome repetition.
If you've been sitting on the fence for a few years or are unsure if a basketball story mode is for you, then The Prelude gives a no-strings-attached preview of 2K's excellent storytelling. Giving it a bash is advised, and you might just be surprised how much fun you find it. MyCareer isn't a strictly hardcore experience only day-to-day NBA fans will enjoy.
Releasing the first chapter of MyCareer as a demo is way better than a more generic demo allowing players to sample a quarter or two from some of the NBA's best teams. Weaving a narrative and trying to connect fans to A.I's story is the way forward.
