There was a time when the New York Knicks were deemed a formidable team within the NBA, all thanks to the coaching of Joe Lapchick. After his resignation in 1956, however, the Knicks haven't been able to keep up the same level of fame they once had.
In more recent years, the squad have fallen even further down the cards, finishing the 2018/19 season with a league worst of 17-65, although Allonzo Trier did become a bit of a standout rookie. The most recent season saw the Knicks using their $74 million to snap up five new signings, including veteran players Wayne Ellington and Taj Gibson, while Steve Mills was also fired as the team's president after seven seasons.
Even with all of this in mind, and the appointment of Leon Rose as the new president (the former representative for LeBron James), the New York Knicks still haven't done anything of note to make them any higher up these sorts of rankings.
There's always next season for them to reclaim their previous fame.
