NBA Live 18 Hands-On: 7 Things We Learned
2. Players Still Look Strange
The introduction of the Frostbite engine to FIFA 17 made the game look more natural than ever. Players no longer looked like they were floating on the field - instead interacting with it, which made for a vast improvement in the game's sense of realism.
That's why the fact that the NBA Live team haven't switched to it from Ignite is a noticeable problem, and not to be ignored. The game needs an upgrade in this department ASAP, the athletes presented in it are not as "light" in real-life as they are in the game.
Yes, they look much, much better than in NBA Live 16, but they don't have the same realness as in the 2K version of NBA. One can make the argument that there they seem "heavier" which can be considered a valid point only by someone who has played Live games forever and only recently switched to 2K.
Live players have a rather triangular shape of the upper body, which makes them look like dream-athletes or superheroes rather than, well, people. Despite his superhero traits, LeBron James is still a human being.
Plus, his head isn't that big.
