NBA Live 18 Hands-On: 7 Things We Learned
1. The Main Issue Is Still Not Fixed
The main problem regarding NBA Live 16 was that it was reacting unbelievably slow.
When trying to pass to an open teammate, either during a fast-break or a set play, often he was already in a far worse position once the ball reached him. In that department, NBA 2K17 is far superior, as once you press a button the pass is made immediately, for better or worse.
NBA Live 18 has failed to address this issue, at least in the demo.
The game has a slow reaction-time on defense as well. Often pressing the "steal" button doesn't have much utility, as once the ball is in the right position and the gamer pushes the button, the player reacts way too slow and the chance for the steal is lost - often at the cost of a foul call.
So, while NBA Live 18 has a lot of potential and can be enjoyable, it's impossible to escape frustration when it comes to wasted opportunities regarding open shots or interceptions.
