Netflix's Castlevania Reactions: 5 Things You Need To Know
2. The Action
The whole season is packed with action, but it never drags or feels the same. More often than not, it's used as a mechanism for character development, which leads to some brilliantly funny moments. The fight scenes are animated well - and they never shy away from blood and gore - but this does lead to other moments outside of the action looking dull in comparison.
The legendary whip from the Castlevania series is back, and it's quite surprising how well it works, making Trevor Belmont occasionally appear like a vampire-hunting Indiana Jones. There's clearly been a great deal of effort put into making sure that each time it appears, the whip is used in a different way.
This works in making sure it never gets stale, though as it's Trevor's go-to weapon, there is a question of how long the series can keep this up.
The action is edited very well, in a typical anime fashion. There are the typically elaborate set-piece duels, but these are punctuated by moments of humour that detract from the intensity of the moment, but add a bit of character to the action in a manner that seems set to define the series.
