Nintendo NX: 8 New Leaked Details You Need To Know
3. It's Got A Significantly Better Screen Resolution
The Leak: The controller's screen itself will be around seven inches in size, and feature a resolution of 720p.
What It Means: It's a staggering improvement over the screen of the Nintendo 3DS. This is another indicator that Nintendo is treating the NX's portability more akin to a tablet than a handheld games console. Though they often mask it with nice art styles and simple graphics, the fact of the matter is that the Nintendo 3DS's screen resolution is terrible, coming in at 240p.
This is also a sign of a much higher level of graphical fidelity. Think about it: a game like The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, which has been confirmed as releasing on the system, would look shockingly bad at 240p.
While not perfect, 720p is substantially greater than 240p, and would go a long, long way in making games with the Wii U's quality of graphics (and better, hopefully) look decent on a handheld.
