Nintendo NX Console: 5 Big Things You Need To Know

2. It Will Be More Westernised

Sony has developed its PlayStation consoles to become more globalised over the years, to the point that the PS4 is now barely distinguishable from the Xbox One (feel free to leave an enraged fanboy/girl comment about this in the comments). Nintendo, on the other hand, has always primarily been designed with the Japanese user in mind. With the kooky user interfaces on the Wii and Wii U, bizarre console names, and awkward development infrastructure, Nintendo has on occasion left western audiences and developers confused. Just look at the number of people who still think that the Wii U is an add-on for the Wii. To add a more western touch to its next console, Nintendo has hired an American hardware architect. In addition, golden boy (who happens to be 62 years old) Shigeru Miyamoto will not be involved in designing the NX. Considering Miyamoto played a key part in designing the Wii and Wii U, we can expect to see a radical change in how the NX interface looks and feels - in terms of both hardware and software.
