Nintendo Switch: 10 Crucial Pros & Cons You Must Consider
10. Pro: 'Gameplay Over Graphics' Launch Lineup Will Divide People
Depending on where you stand, this could be seen as a con. Personally, I'm going pro.
Nintendo's approach to assembling the Switch's launch lineup almost feels like a sprint to the finish, like they're concocting some communal pot of gumbo, furiously asking every company under the sun, "Hey, errr, have you got anything to throw in?!"
Because for the most part, the only really big system-selling/justifying title is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Alongside that you've got mini-game collection 1-2 Switch, Skylanders: Imaginators and Just Dance 2017 in terms of 'triple-A' titles, whilst the rest of the catalogue contains the phenomenal Shovel Knight, the ace turn-based RPG I Am Setsuna, lightning fast F-Zero-clone Fast RMX, Super Bomberman R and a handful more.
Point is: The launch lineup is incredibly solid (if Fast RMX can maintain its frame rate, that thing is gonna soar as a local co-op game), but for mainstream audiences looking for titles that have the 'wow factor' associated with a new system i.e. eyeball searingly beautiful graphics, they're going to be left disappointed.
The Switch is the first console in years not to lead with "Look at the shiny shiny!", and that's going to polarise a lot of consumers, especially when something like the immaculate Horizon is reassuring everyone on just how powerful a standard PS4 can be.
