Nintendo Switch: 10 Crucial Pros & Cons You Must Consider

6. Con: Cramped Controllers

Speaking of weirdly awkward things right out of the gate, the Switch's controllers - when you slot both Joy-Cons into the middle framework to make it a 'proper controller' anyway - can feel very small for adults, or those with slightly larger hands.

Time will tell how much we all collectively get used to this setup or which of the 'three ways to play' emerge as the most dominant, but right now, although the Joy-Cons are incredibly sturdy and capable when held separately, combined with the inner housing, it can feel much smaller and more cumbersome to use than a DualShock or Xbox pad.

Speaking of the Joy-Cons, sliding them off the Switch and turning them sideways means they also double as individual controllers, revealing some small, recessed 'shoulder buttons' in the top. It will certainly be novel and somewhat fun to crowd around a Switch's screen, vying for screen space and clutching a Joy-Con like a giant, just controlling what's happening on screen, but as for the long term use of such a design, we'll have to see if 'cute and endearing' turns into 'actually, just uncomfortable'.
