Nintendo Switch: 10 Essential Wii U Ports That Need To Happen
5. Star Fox Zero
The Game: Star Fox Zero. The Star Fox game so many fans wanted. Gone were the gimmicky walking sections and the strange attempts to retrofit the genre (hello, Star Fox Adventures). Lacklustre graphics aside (it's the Wii U, what did fans expect?), it all seemed perfect except for one little thing...
The Improvement: The controls. Oh, lord, the controls. When the Wii U first launched, fans were assured its tablet controller would offer some seriously unique gameplay experiences, akin to the Wiimote before. As time went on, most were glad that Nintendo appeared to have dropped all attempts to shoehorn controller gimmicks into their games, instead resorting to the infinitely more useful and practical technique of using the Wii U's controller for map and inventory management.
But then came Star Fox Zero, a game with so much potential to be fun but which is utterly hampered by bafflingly tricky controls. And the worst part is, the motion controls aren't even optional - they're the only configuration.
The improvement, then, is simple. Drop the motion controls. Give fans the standard controls that were used to such great effect in the Nintendo 64's Lylat Wars. Please?
