Nintendo Switch: 15 GameCube Games That Must Be On Virtual Console
4. The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Twilight Princess is definitely the darker cousin of Wind Waker and some say the true sequel to Ocarina of Time from the Nintendo 64. Twilight Princess have the series a notably darker tone, realistic (if still stylized) graphics and had a more open world that simply had more to explore than the vast oceans of Wind Waker.
Dungeons were more cleverly designed this time and the
varying styles of villages and dungeons in the overworld and twilight realm
really contrasted well and gave the game a brooding atmosphere not unlike
acclaimed PlayStation 2 games like ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Twilight Princess simply had more of
everything that fans had come to demand of the series: dungeons, items, an
interesting story that got quite bleak at times. Even if bosses still weren’t particularly
tough to beat at least they looked more spectacular to face off against. (Although Zant was something of a fiend at
times…)
Elsewhere, Wolf Link did not become a needless gimmick
and Midna was both entertaining and annoying – a better version of Navi from
the ’64 days who came off as just plain annoying. A special mention must be made of Snowpeak
Ruins which was a strange blend of sympathy quest, haunted house and dungeon.
