Nintendo Switch 2020 Wish List: 10 Things We Need To See
4. Better DLC
Games are pricey enough as they are, so if you’re asking fans to shell out another £15 for extra content, you’d better make sure it’s worth their while. Nintendo are often a little behind the times when it comes to all things online, and their attitude towards DLC is a good example of this.
Breath Of The Wild is one of the finest and deepest games of modern times, and it’s frankly greedy of us to ask the developers to cram even more content in. Still, if you're charging for add ons, they could be a little more inspiring than what we got. 16 more shrines, a hard mode, a boring boss fight, and a motorbike (which was cool for 10 minutes but ultimately pointless). Similarly, Smash Bros Ultimate are taking an odd approach to their DLC, drip feeding us further characters that are fun to play with but don’t do much to take the game further.
Mario Maker bucked this trend by adding a whole new game mode, essentially, by adding the ability to play as Link (and for free!), but Nintendo want to be wary about being left behind on this matter. We don’t insist on having ever more content, but if you’re going to charge, make it worth our while.
