Nintendo Switch 2020 Wish List: 10 Things We Need To See
3. Metroid Updates
Metroid Prime 4 has been teased and snatched away, amidst the aforementioned rumours that all isn’t well at Retro Studios. Realistically, then, we’re probably not going to see Samus star in a new title in 2020.
So to keep fans interested, it would seem sensible for Nintendo to deploy the Metroid Prime trilogy set on their current console. There is, of course, an inherent danger in releasing the same game over and again, and this would be the third time they’d asked their fans to pay for these titles. Our last sight of Samus, though, was back in 2009 on the Wii. That’s two cycles of consoles ago, and while interest in the Metroid franchise has stayed high in the converted, there are gamers coming to the Switch now who know nothing of it. It’s hard to think of a better introduction than this nifty set.
The Switch has brought a lot of doubters back to Nintendo, along with a whole host of new gamers who’ll form the basis of their hardcore supporters for years to come. If Metroid Prime 4 is in something resembling development hell, this would seem the ideal way to maintain the interest of longtime fans, and create it in newcomers.
