Nintendo Switch: 9 Major Developments You Need To Know

1. Analysts Doubt Its Potential

"Sorry, but is a portable/home console approach really that innovative in 2016? I am most concerned about the target group of the device: who else but die-hard Nintendo fans will buy the Switch? The Switch lacks a killer feature, and I think it will be very difficult for Nintendo to win back the casual gamers that are mostly on mobile now."

The above is a quote from games industry analyst Serkan Toto, who after watching the Switch reveal, set the ball rolling in regards to doubting whether the Switch could even 'work' in the market.

I've already covered its main competition (which is very fierce), but since Toto's comments, a ton of analysts and critical thinkers on Youtube have begun mentioning how the Switch's split-appeal could backfire. Polygon even reported that directly following the Switch's reveal, Nintendo's stock dropped 7.3%, simply through lack of confidence in the company's direction.

What do you think?

Personally I'm more than on board with the system (where else are you going to be able to play a new, console-sized Zelda or something like Skyrim on the go?), but in these early days where Nintendo are refusing to comment on specifics, it does make you wonder just how confident they are in its rollout going forward.
