4. Virtual Console
This one could extend the appeal of the Switch no end. The Wii had it. The 3DS had it. Even the Wii U shall not be named had it.
Yet Switch owners are still waiting for a fully realised virtual console to appear at their fingertips. Backwards compatibility is a big deal in the modern age of gaming.
Yes, beautiful, AAA, power sapping titles demonstrate the prowess of the industry’s latest tech but many of the best titles are timeless. Their visuals, irrelevant. It’s all about gameplay, nostalgia and enjoyment.
This motto is Nintendo’s lifeblood and it’s a concept that has seen their support of the indy game market pay dividends. Taking this into account, revisiting the virtual console would make a lot of sense.
Many optimists hoped that the library would return with the advent of Nintendo’s online service. However, the function has yet to materialise and it’s a crying shame for both Nintendo’s bank account and their fans alike.
I dare say that if a virtual console were to launch with the Switch Pro/2, the public would leap at the chance to play their favourite classic on a new console.
Never mind Breath of the Wild 2, Nintendo's back catalogue is a platform seller.
