8. The Wii U Works For Families Of All Sizes
While I bought my Wii U solely for my own personal enjoyment, Nintendo's focus on family gaming has resulted in a system built for both single player and on-the-couch multiplayer. Many complained that the original Wii was for casual gamers and grandparents, that there weren't games for the "hardcore." While that's completely ignorant and wrong, Nintendo listened and is now out to change their minds. As I've stated, games like Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect now have a home for independent players on Nintendo's console, but games that focus on playing together, like New Super Mario Bros. U, We Sing, and even Call of Duty: Black Ops II show that Nintendo isn't abandoning the local multiplayer market they built with the Wii. Nintendo seems adamant about keeping a DVD player out of their systems, but the fact that the Wii U has several online streaming apps like Netflix, Amazon Video, and even the interesting project that is TVii, entices parents to put the new console at the center of their living room.
