Nioh: 6 Essential Tips & Tricks You Need To Know

4. Exploring Is Always Rewarding

Particularly in the early sections of the game, when the player starts out with no equipment whatsoever in both the Tower of London and the Isle of Demons locations, exploring is key to obtaining some vital gear in order to stay alive.

Both the introductory Man with the Guardian Spirit and the following Isle of Demons missions can reward player exploration mainly with brand new swords and armour, as well as arrows vital for the use of archery. Nioh instructs the player that the utilisation of weapons and armour will be key to player success in Nioh, and exploring each location thoroughly will almost always reward the player with new items.

On top of this, there’s some interesting dialogue to be found through exploring different locations. For example, looted corpses in the Tower of London will reveal supernatural forces at work outside of Japan, as it would appear as though the monarchy themselves have taken to using supernatural beasts on certain prisoners within the cells of the tower.

Outside of weapons and dialogue, the player can also expand the individual missions areas through exploration. If you happen across a locked door or broken ladder within the game, then don’t merely cast it aside, as this will most likely be used as a shortcut back from further areas within the map, as frequently happened within the Tower of London.
