No Man's Sky: 10 Coolest Things You Must Do
4. See How Long You Can Actually Stay Alive
In a few of his final interviews before the release of No Man's Sky, Sean Murray of Hello Games took time to remind players about how the randomisation of planets and environments would bring an element of luck to proceedings. Luckier players would start out on lush, calm worlds and have an easy ride while others may find themselves in a galaxy of barren wastelands.
Traversing these more difficult worlds is where the game's biggest challenge lies, but it's also here that players can have a lot more fun. Uncovering outposts and shelters on a placid planet has no real thrill, but in a hostile environment the challenge of judging the strength of your equipment against radiation or toxicity with the distance to the next safe spot is truly intriguing.
Survival may have been an unexpected focus for the game upon release, but it's in satisfying this element that players can take the most pride throughout their epic journey.
