No Man's Sky: 10 More Games That Should Be Investigated For False Advertising

8. Mass Effect 3

The Lie: I'll just quote Bioware's Casey Hudson for this one:

"At this point we’re taking into account so many decisions that you’ve made as a player and reflecting a lot of that stuff. It’s not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got ending A, B, or C. The endings have a lot more sophistication and variety in them.”

“We have a rule in our franchise that there is no canon. You as a player decide what your story is.” .

The Reality: It goes without saying that the ending of Mass Effect 3 was a tire fire of the stinkiest proportions. Business Magazine voted EA the 'Worst Company in America' after armies of consumers took to voting them as such, Bioware saw a number of layoffs from key personnel, and it later came out that the original ending - probably the one being referred to in the above quotation - was scheduled to be in the game for years before launch.
