No Man's Sky: 10 Valid Complaints In A Sea Of Hate
9. Ambient Life On Planets Feels Almost Tranquillised
Even in some of the earliest trailers for No Man's Sky, one of the most enticing prospects was that of heading to alien worlds and interacting with the fascinating lifeforms that made their homes there. This was boosted even further by sweeping Jurassic Park-style comparisons and numerous fan-made discovery teasers.
The reality, however, is significantly less impressive. Your first encounter with any new creature is pretty much guaranteed to be exciting, regardless of how ridiculous the thing may appear thanks to the random combination of parts that it may comprise. Once that initial wonder wears off, the effect will never be the same again.
This is largely due to the fact that the interaction you can have with these is so limited. Very few of them will actually react to your presence unless they're particularly aggressive or timid, and a lot of the time it's as if you're not even there. The lifeforms feel totally tranquillised, often in total contrast to how intimidating they may look, and it removes so much of the potential for exciting encounters.
