No Man's Sky: 16 Things You Didn't Know You Could Do

2. Blast Your Way Out Of Any Cave

No Man's Sky
Hello Games

You'll need to have access to at least the Plasma Grenade upgrade to your Multi-Tool (which you can find through sheer progression, just visit space stations and outposts and it'll eventually spawn) as once you do, terraforming the landscape is very much doable.

Almost nothing in No Man's Sky is purely physics-based, so you don't need to worry about tunnels caving in or anything of the sort. Simply point your weapon at a cliff-side or any part of a cave, hit L1 and blast any number of holes right through to the other side.

You can fire underwater too, so if you're ever low on air or the game has generated a dead-end with nowhere to escape, just make your own way.

I once shot straight up a number of times to get back out onto the surface. No Man's Sky is just like the original Red Faction or any of the 3D Worms games in terms of how it handles terrain deformation, so blast away and see what you can find.
