No Man’s Sky: 10 Huge Changes That Finally Make It Worth Playing
4. Awesome Large-Scale Space Battles
Though it isn't known for having a great combat model, No Man's Sky actually has some really punchy weapons. Now included is a snappier lock-on, tightened control for yaw and pitching in mid-air, and a damage multiplier when you land consecutive shots.
This goes alongside a basic missile launcher that gives you something to switch to when your cannons overheat, essentially giving the idea of dogfighting space pirates a far more enjoyable and worthwhile feel.
Add in all the shield, cannon and beam-based upgrades, and you've got a very competent shooter indeed - which then gets applied to the clashes between the races, as freighters and huge sun-eclipsing trade vehicles go head to head.
Flying right into the middle of one of these things, picking up salvage, offing a few of the opposing team (if you've picked a side) and emerging unscathed is one hell of a rush, and something that makes being a space pirate in No Man's Sky pretty damn enjoyable.
