6. The Well

The outdoor sections of the map in the demo are perhaps the most terrifying because there's so little safety to be found in seclusion. The vast open spaces are bathed in shadow, and these dark spots could be hiding all kinds of danger for you to stumble into.

But the outdoor spaces are somehow just as terrifying even when you manage to step into the light. In one such example, the game pulls you towards a well-lit garden area that appears blissfully empty and quiet. At its centre is a well, and you're urged to investigate this by the onscreen prompts.

Of course the investigation goes horribly, and the moment you peer over you'll be grasped by something that looks like a gigantic tongue. The thing hurls you into the well and leaves you shuddering in the darkness at the bottom. The fact that the demo never re-reveals this thing leaves it as a terrifying prospect for the full game.
