7. Who To Play As First - Offence & Defence

The tutorial has you chasing after Tracer's pert behind and then firing off a few rounds as Soldier: 47, but what after that? Well...

Offence: Pharrah and Soldier: 47.

Pharrah favours all-out explosive assault. Her base weapon is a rocket launcher and her triggers are either a leaping vertical jump with great hang-time for aerials, or a blast that forces enemy groups apart and disorientates players. Combine her leap with the missile volley unlocked after she's charged up, and literally reign fire from above, as she's so fond of saying.

For Soldier: 47, he's your more standard 'COD guy' or basic military type. However, his ability to launch a small three-pronged missile does considerable damage, and is the perfect accompaniment to dumping an entire machine gun clip into an enemy. You can finish almost anyone off in this fashion, and best of all, if things get too heated, simply retreat and drop his healing pulse - you'll be back to full health in seconds.

Defence: Torbjorn and Junkrat.

The latter's base grenade launcher is still a great offensive weapon when things kick off, and you can gleefully keep your distance, retreating backwards while firing and laying ground traps for any opponents who'll follow. Depending on the map, Torbjorn's turrets can be placed around corners and especially on any bottleneck segment corners, to really get the best of those coming through, too.

His pistol is fairly useless outside of its Ultimate mode, so just be sure to switch to the hammer and manually upgrade your turrets by hitting them as soon as possible.
