Overwatch: 10 Crucial Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You

6. Who To Play As First - Tanks & Healers

Tank: Roadhog and D.Va.

An early favourite simply because he sports an Unreal Tournament-style flak cannon, Roadhog lives up to his opening line of being a "One man apocalypse" thanks to immense close-range damage, and the ability to heal immediately after. His other ability is a lock-on chain-pull that'll close the distance with anybody, meaning you can batter them with shells and melee attacks.

D.Va on the other hand is essentially Titanfall's entire hook as a game, in one character. Having pretty much two lifebars, you can wade into enemy lines in her mech form, dolling out cannon fire and boosting through defensive lines. However, if things go sour just leave the mech behind as a devastating smart bomb - a separation that'll happen if you get too low on health anyway, leaving you to sprint far faster, before calling in another suit and doing it all again.

Healers: Zenyatta and Mercy.

Zenyatta is just plain fun to watch. Both his trigger abilities are alternating buffs for either your allies or opponents. A pull of each shoulder button will either heal an ally, or increase the amount of damage an opponent is taking. His basic energy blasts do decent damage regardless, and his special, Transcendence, turns him into an invulnerable healing aura, revitalising all ally HP bars and shielding characters from any frontal attacks.

Mercy on the other hand is very similar, but has far greater mobility. She favours moving around the battlefield on the vertical plain, making her perfect support for the likes of Widowmaker or Genji up on the rooftops. Her weapons heal allies or boost their damage output quickly, and her special will resurrect all teammates within a fairly wide radius, providing they died within 10 seconds of activating it - crucial for any assault on a stronghold.
