Overwatch: 10 Major Story Details The Game Doesn't Tell You
3. D.Va Is A Professional Gamer
D.Va's status as a professional gamer is a key part of her character in the Overwatch mythos. Apart from rocking a body suit adorned with various fictitious sponsors, the Korean mech pilot references the medium all the time, whether that be through sound-effects, dialogue, or otherwise.
How is she embroiled in Overwatch, then? Funny you should ask.
In Blizzard's hyper-stylised version of earth, South Korea is ravaged by a giant Omnic monstrosity. In response, they create a mech programme, and who better to pilot such a destructive machine than a gamer? A pilot? A soldier? Pfft. No chance. Mountain Dew guzzling air-horn blasting MLGers are the defence of the future, clearly.
Hana Song is really one of Overwatch's best characters though, and is a clear hit among other members of the group as well. Lucio can sometimes be heard asking Hana for an autograph, to which she replies that she's really excited for his next album. She's not a fully-fledged member of Overwatch, but even then she's a brilliant character.
