Overwatch 2: 13 Things We Learned From Blizzconline

1. Progression And Talents

Arguably the most exciting aspect of Overwatch 2, specifically in PVE, is the talent system.

A rudimentary version was shown off in 2019, but it wasn't until the new presentation that a connection could be made between Overwatch 2 and RPGs (such as specialisations in the Dragon Age franchise). In familiar RPG fashion, each hero can specialise in a different set of skills depending on the mission's needs, and spend talent points to upgrade them.

Different heroes's initial skill trees were revealed, with Soldier 76 (and his amazing new beard) having the Commander, Rifleman and Vigilante trees. Different builds might work for different scenarios, with something called the "snow plough build" under Soldier's tree giving him a biotic field that moves with him, and the ability to repel enemies.

Mercy's trees include Field Medic, Valkyrie, and Savior, one of which gives her the ability to mass-resurrect her team from a distance. Reinhardt got Crusader, Juggernaut, and Guardian.

There also appears to be the ability to use various types of elemental damage for each character, with electrical traps for Junkrat and frost strikes for Reinhardt, though where in the Skill Tree that might fall under is still unknown.
