Overwatch 2: 13 Things We Learned From Blizzconline
10. Role Passives
An exciting update that will hopefully go live in the main game, soon, as it seems to fit into elements of Overwatch 2 that will carry into the main Overwatch game, is that of "Role Passives".
Role Passives appear to be changes made to specific roles in Overwatch, from Damage to Tank to Support roles, which suit their needs much more and allow them to do better in combat.
Damage Heroes, according to the presentation, will get movement bonus, given that mobility is one of their strongest abilities beyond actual damage.
Tanks get knockback reduction, which fits their role perfectly, allowing them to feel more solid and less movable. The amount of ultimate charge received by enemies who shoot them will also be reduced, given that they're the biggest targets in the game and "easy ult charge".
Support heroes will get passive healing over time - a minimum amount, very similar to Mercy's passive healing or the barrier regeneration by heroes like Zenyatta but much slower, to increase survivability.
Other Role Passives may be added, or these existing ideas may be tweaked, as development continues, but are a promising idea to make each Role feel uniquely rewarding for players.
