PES 2019 Demo: 7 Instant Reactions You Need To Know
3. Tackling Fairly Is Nigh-On Impossible
One thing's for sure, PES 2019 doesn't have the 50/50 battles that FIFA 19 is advertising pre-release. In Konami's demo, tackling remains one of PES's most wildly inconsistent facets. In fact, scrap that, it's bloody nigh-on impossible to time a slide tackle right without removing an attacker's leg or seeing the ref reach for his cards.
In general, officials are a bit too whistle-happy, and it's very irritating after a while when play is constantly slowed by a tackle that visibly won the ball.
The advantage rule isn't properly applied either, which is frustrating. If it is, it's too erratic to know when the game is happy to play by the actual rules of football or set some new laws itself. One minute, your ball-winning slide is punished by a yellow. The next, the CPU does exactly the same thing without any infringement.
This is one area that needs sorting out before release. It'll threaten to ruin the game completely for some if not.
