PES 2019 Demo: 7 Instant Reactions You Need To Know
4. Scoring From Headers Doesn't Seem As Easy
Play enough PES 2018 and a simple strategy opens up, especially for teams who have a lumbering striker up top. Instead of funnelling play through the middle or playing intricate one-two movements, it's far easier to ping the ball out wide, lump it in the box and watch as said forward rises above defenders to power a header home.
This year, Konami appear to have dulled the effectiveness of headers, or at least made them a bit trickier to pull off.
Crosses don't seem mapped to the strikers in the box like they were before, and headers are likely to fly over the bar if you happen to press the button too early. Gone are the days of crossing, then repeatedly spamming the shoot button so your player is first to the ball. Now, it's all about hitting that sweet spot.
Game difficulty doesn't have much impact either. When experimenting with the differences between teams, or even when players were unmarked in the area, headers were still prone to hitting the stands rather than the back of the net if they weren't timed properly.
Is this Konami's answer to FIFA's "Timed Finishing" feature? Sort of.
