PlayStation 4: 10 Things Sony Might Announce On February 20th

7. Greater Focus On The Cloud

With Sony€™s recent purchase of the Cloud-streaming service Gaikai for $380 million, we find ourselves questioning not only if Sony will integrate on-demand gaming, but when (and how). It would be unwise for Sony to rely on a console built solely for cloud-streaming, due to relatively slow internet speeds in many areas. Constant hardware patches and updates have plagued the existence of the PS3 - imagine the waiting time for a full game to stream. A small but significant step for cloud-streaming could be in demos, enabling developers to stream a limited portion of their game without having to create a separate build available to download. Features from Gaikai could easily transform the outlook of the PlayStation business. In the not-so-distant future, full games could be available to stream on demand, providing unmatched flexibility. Launching a campaign focused on Cloud-gaming on February 20th would make Sony a market leader in this area.
